Wadsworth Cemetery

It was here that militiamen under Captain Samuel Wadsworth were attacked by a thousand braves under the personal command of King Philip on April 21, 1676. Wadsworth and 29 of his soldiers were killed when the Indians set the woods on fire. Most of the fighting took place on the slopes of Green Hill to the north. The survivors escaped to Noyes Mill in Mill Village under the cover of darkness.
